Tell the PM: Release the Mandelson trade files – in full

I have been shocked by revelations about Peter Mandelson’s dealings with Jeffrey Epstein, and support the release of documents relating to his appointment. However, I am concerned that this only deals with part of the picture.

In particular, I am concerned at reports that Mandelson leaked confidential government information while business secretary during the financial crisis.

If he can have leaked government information once while in office, he could have done so again. Mandelson established a lobbying company, Global Counsel, which has represented a variety of corporate clients. I urge you to go further in releasing full details of Mandelson’s interactions with business interests while ambassador to the US. In particular I urge you to release:

• The text of the UK government’s contracts with Palantir
• All correspondence and minutes of meetings between Mandelson and corporate representatives in his time as ambassador
• The text of the UK’s pharma deal with the United States
• Information relating to any conflicts of interest identified during Mandelson’s time as ambassador – and if conflicts of interest were identified, how these were dealt with

Following this disastrous appointment, the public interest will not be served by failing to be honest with the public about whose interests Mandelson was serving.
