On Monday MPs will vote on the government’s anti-protest laws in the new policing bill.
The bill would give police the power to dictate when, where and how people can protest, and increase sentences for protestors who don’t comply. These measures have been widely condemned but the government is putting them to a vote unamended.
The right to protest is a basic democratic right, and should not be curtailed in this way. We need every MP to hear from their constituents ahead of the vote.
Write to your MP now. We’ve written a template letter for you to send, but if you put it into your own words it could have more impact.
