The government has announced plans to cut the UK aid budget by a reported £4 billion in 2021, and every year indefinitely.
At a time when more than 100 million people around the world could be pushed into extreme poverty by Covid-19, this is a terrible move.
We need all MPs to hear from their constituents in opposition to this.
At the same time, the government is considering whether a dedicated committee of MPs will continue scrutinising aid spending after the abolition of the Department for International Development. This is essential to make sure every penny is spent on fighting poverty, not diverted to other Foreign Office priorities.
Please write to your MP to ask them to oppose the aid cuts now.
We've written a suggested message, but if you can adapt it into your own words it will have more impact.
