The Trade Bill is entering its final stages in parliament. Trade campaigners won a big victory in early March as the House of Lords voted for an amendment to the Trade Bill that includes our proposals for trade democracy – giving parliament a meaningful role in debating and approving post-Brexit trade agreements. But now we need MPs to vote for this amendment to stay in the Trade Bill.
This is a crucial moment in the campaign as MPs decide whether the public and parliament will have any voice in future trade deals. If this amendment is defeated, Trade Secretary Liam Fox will able to strike secretive trade deals that slash regulations protecting the environment, healthcare and food standards – and there will no parliamentary powers to scrutinise, challenge or stop this.
Email your MP now to vote for our trade democracy amendment.
