Zambia's debt crisis: write to your MP

Zambia is urgently negotiating with its lenders to find a solution to the country's debt crisis. But they are being blocked.

Zambia’s biggest bondholder, the financial giant BlackRock, is refusing to cancel or suspend any debts. It’s set to make huge profits of up to 110%, if paid in full. Despite repeated requests, they are refusing to budge.

Right now, we’ve got a chance to pile on the pressure and win debt cancellation for Zambia.

The UK government is taking part in these negotiations and MPs are starting to ask questions in parliament about why Zambia has not had any debt cancelled, almost 18 months after applying through the new scheme.

We need MPs to demand the government does more to help, it’s vital we get as many as possible raising the alarm and demanding debt cancellation.

Will you write to your MP today to help #CancelTheDebt?
